National Certificate in Information Technology.

This qualification give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment, career development opportunities for those already in work, and through articulation to higher education, degree and professional development programmes provide progression opportunities within the same cognate or related areas of study within universities and other institutions.

The 30-credit Level 5 Certificate offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate vocational sector. This qualification can extend a learner's programme of study and give vocational emphasis. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE AS Level. The BTEC Certificate is also suitable for more mature learners, who wish to follow a vocational programme of study as part of their continued professional development or who want to move to a different area of employment.

Assessment takes the form of written assignments, observations, in-class tests, verbal assessment and projects

To gain the unit learners must achieve, as a minimum, the Pass grade; the Pass grade is in effect the gaining of the credit for the unit, and this contributes to the overall qualification grade. All units must be passes within the rules of combination to achieve the overall qualification.
