

In order to receive CompTIA A+ certification a candidate must pass two exams. The first exam is CompTIA
A+ Essentials. The CompTIA A+ Essentials Examination measures necessary competencies for an entry-level
IT professional with the equivalent knowledge of at least 500 hours of hands-on experience in the lab or field.
Hands-on experience or equivalent knowledge includes installing, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring,
troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing, and performing preventive maintenance of basic personal computer
hardware and operating systems.
This unit is a comprehensive introduction to the principles of computer hardware and enable a learner to explore the technology used in a range of hardware systems as well as operating systems. The unit covers repair techniques, being able to maintain a system and how a learner may be employed as a systems support specialised. Working with different operating systems, apart from systems hardware, the learner will also explore networking systems, safe practices and systems security (and the related issues This unit will prepare learners to sit the CompTIA A+ Essentials certification exam, this unit is also assessed with BTEC merit and distinction criteria.
